I'm Bramel Harrison, and I climb the trees myself
Not a salesman in a branded truck who hands the job to a crew you haven't met. If you hire me, I'm the one in your tree.
I started doing tree work in 2008 after an ice storm, and started Ozark of Austin in 2014. That's about eighteen years of climbing. There's an ISA Certified Arborist on my crew, I'm insured, and I'm on site for every job I sell.
The ice storm
In 2008 an ice storm came through and flattened everything from Oklahoma to Tennessee. The Fayetteville, Arkansas region where I lived got declared a national disaster area. Trees were down across driveways and streets everywhere you looked, and there weren't nearly enough people with saws.
I bought my first chainsaw out of a pawn shop and started cutting my neighbors' homes and streets clear. That's genuinely how this started — not a career plan, just the thing that needed doing that winter.
I worked for other outfits for the next six years, learned the parts of this trade you can't learn on your own, and in 2014 started Ozark of Austin.
Why I'd rather talk you out of a removal
A mature live oak in Central Texas took fifty years to get that size. I can take it down in a morning and neither of us can put it back. So when somebody calls me about removing a tree, the first question I'm asking myself is whether it actually needs to go, and I'll tell you if I don't think it does.
That costs me work in the short run. It's also why people call me back years later at a different house, which is most of my business.
What the credentials actually are
Being straight about this, because the industry isn't. I have an ISA Certified Arborist on my crew — that's a real qualification with an exam and continuing education behind it. I'm not personally ISA certified; what I have is eighteen years of climbing and a lot of trees. Both of those things are worth something and they're not the same thing, and you should know which one you're getting.
I'm insured. Ask me for the certificate and I'll send it — and ask any tree company you're considering for theirs, because an uninsured crew working over your roof is your problem, not theirs.
How the work actually goes
You call or text me, ideally with a photo. I'll tell you what I think it needs, and often I can price it from the picture. If I need to see it, the estimate is free and doesn't come with a pitch.
Most jobs happen within days of the estimate. I show up when I said I would, the saws are clean, and the yard is clear when I leave.
